In 1966 the town of Vail was incorporated as it proudly promoted the first gondola in the United States. By the mid-1970s a cult of diehard skiing aficionados had discovered Vail and as word leaked out of its incredible skiing the town earned the reputation as “the” place to vacation, party and ski in Colorado.
